6 Tips to prepare when you travel ALONE

Some might ask, ‘Why would someone go on a vacation alone?’. The answer is simple, sometimes in life we just wanna do things our way and only answer to our needs without compensating our wants. Travelling alone is a great way to do it. You only do the things that you want, how you want it, when you want it and where you want it. You are not answerable to anyone but yourself. Such a bliss. (Dreaming away)  Although travelling alone can be a little tricky especially if you are a women as we should always take extra precaution. Being stranded, mobbed, robbed or kidnap (god forbids these from happening ) is not a beautiful sight. Although there is always a possibility. Don’t be naive thinking that it could only happen in movies. Where do you think Hollywood got their inspiration from?!?

We believe that prevention is always better than cure. So we’ve listed down a list of things you should prepare and do when you go off on your “Self -ish vacation “

Embassy Phone  number

No matter where you come from and where you are going, Always have your country’s embassy number of that country with you. They are a representative from your country and should assist you if ever you are in trouble.

2) Photocopy of your Passport & Identity card

Have a copy of these documents if ever your handbag is snatched or stolen at least you have these documents to back you up. Put it in a luggage or something.

3) Make an itinerary

You should at least make a draft itinerary of roughly when and where you wanna go. Of course it’s nice to just go with the flow or spark of the moment kinda trip but it prevents you from looking clueless or nervous when you are lost. This will only attract predators, so always be calm.

4) Emergency Contact Number

Have it in your phone or tag or a piece of paper with your emergency contact number of your family member or a friend in it, if ever you are caught in a distress situation, someone is able to contact the people back home.

5) Segregate your money

We suggest that you do not stash ALL your cash in one place. Place it here and there in case a snatch thief or a pick pocket gets into your wallet. You don’t wanna spend your vacation penniless. Of course try to remember where you stash the other half, it wouldn't help if you don't remember.

6) A map

It’s always good to have a map before hand. Although what you could do is print a map of the location of your accommodation and also if you are using the public transportation, the bus or train route maps will be very helpful. You could always get a proper map either at your accommodation, airport or train station.

With all these intact, you should be well on your way to your SELF -ish vacation. Going for a vacation on your own is just overwhelming. Try it once and if you don’t think you like it, well at least you can boast about how you’ve been there and done just that.
